A Production by Christopher Rüping

Christopher Rüping will make his debut at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in January 2027 with a new production. Rüping’s 10-hour spectacle Dionysos Stadt and his takes on Hamlet and Trommeln in der Nacht at Münchner Kammerspiele, then led by Matthias Lilienthal, played a decisive role in shaping the artistic vision of the house. His productions combine emotional depth with insightful analyses of the present, transforming complex stuff into powerful, immersive live experiences. Over the past few years, he has increasingly turned his attention to opera and music theatre. In the coming years, he will direct regularly at Volksbühne, bringing with him a number of actors with whom he has long-standing artistic ties.
