Puma Camillê is an artist, activist, South American Princess of the House of Basquiat and founder of the movement Capoeira Pra Todxs. Capoeira and voguing – both cultural forms that emerged through experiences of resistance, community and self-empowerment – combine to CapoeiraVogue blending ginga and mandinga of capoeira with the lines, poses and expressiveness of vogue. Using movement, rhythm and presence, the workshop participants are invited to explore the connections between both practices, and the (hi)stories they carry. In CapoeiraVogue, the body is a source of memory, imagination, and transformation. Based on elements of martial arts, dance, and performance, the workshop aims to create a space for exploring movement as a form of knowledge, as a source of freedom, and as collective experience.
